I admit it, I was speeding. So when an officer pulled me over, I was delighted to see Patricia bend by my window. We went to school together and she used to like me a lot. She'd grown into a very attractive woman, so it was no hardship to offer her something by the side of the road. Would it be enough to avoid a ticket?

When the officer lowered his head to peer into my window my heart stopped. I gasped, pleasantly surprised to see an absolutely gorgeous Latino woman, dark hair poking out beneath her cap, a sexy little dimple in her cheek. I felt my heart flutter in anticipation of this encounter, hoping I could charm my way out of a ticket.

“Do you realize you were doing forty over the speed limit?” she asked.

“Sorry officer, no I didn’t,” I lied.

“Been drinking?”

“Only a couple,” I said, beginning to perspire.

Looked like she wasn’t going to be such an easy encounter after all.

“License please, and it will be a three hundred fine plus loss of license if you’re over point zero five.”

Shit. How many drinks did I have? I didn’t feel drunk. Opening my purse, I withdrew my license and handed it to her.

“Brenda? Brenda Kowolski. Say, you weren’t Brenda Farwell, were you?” she asked, her voice rising slightly.

“Yes, I was,” I said nervously, some things in my past were best left there.

“It’s me. Patricia Drinkwater. We went to school together,” she gushed.

“Patricia. I didn’t recognize you,” I said, opening the door to get out.

We went to shake hands, then had an awkward hug, while my mind raced. She definitely worked out, her biceps, firm beneath my touch.

“I can’t believe it’s you,” I said, remembering what a skinny little kid she used to be. If I remembered right, she’d always fancied me, wanting to be my friend. Why? Had I been nice to her at school, I wondered as I desperately searched my memory. Why didn’t I have her as part of my group of friends?

“Oh, come on,” I said. The thought of losing my license just wasn’t a viable option. I was always on the road. I peered at her, fluttering my lashes and licking my lips. “Maybe we could work something else out,” I said stepping in closer.

“What I want you to do is blow in this,” she said, handing me a breathalyzer stick.

“I’d rather blow you some other way,” I said, my intention obvious.

“You’re not trying to bribe an officer, are you?” She laughed.

“Well no. I just thought it’s been a long time and maybe it would be a good way showing you how much I appreciate your dedication to the job. It’s not like I’m handing over money,” I said. “What do you say? I’ve been told I’m really good at it.”
