Iggy is not happy... His mood was palpable. He was tired of the life he lived. Sitting and drinking tea with his neighbor Ronan was soothing and healing. Both men were so different... Ronan was warm, tender, patient and honest, Iggy was a slut, a party guy and the fun neighbor. Ronan had eyes for Iggy from first sight but knew he didn't have a chance... what party guy wants a man with a little daughter? Iggy had eyes for Ronan right away but knew he was no deal for a serious relationship. Then there was a turning point... eyes were opened, ears could hear and the heart could feel. It’s a short story but so much was happening and with so much depth... my eyes blurred more than once.. it had a lot of feelings, perception and different sides... it was thoughtful and all very charming. I loved this story hard. Ronan and Iggy were both lovable... and then there was little miss Emery, so adorable. This author built a whole world in just a few pages... I think that’s
What an absolute sweet story. And romantic. It’s not always about the sex but the relationship and the intimacy. The bonds and friendship. I loved this story. Age makes you realize a lot of things. It makes you see things differently, want things differently, approach things differently. You find yourself not wanting the same things you used to. I know for !e it was that way. And for Iggy in this story too. His birthday party wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. He spent his time hiding up at the bar or in the bathroom. Enough was enough and he went home. And he sees his neighbor, Ronan. Ronan and he hang out form time to time. Ronan is incredibly hot to Iggy and he adores Ronan’s little girl. They hang out for tea at Ronan’s and Iggy tells of his disaster of a birthday. And realizes something else in the process. It’s time to settle down and the man in front of him is who he wants. Kid and all. This was a getting to know you book. Just so beautiful and sweet. They focused on
A sweet short story, I loved it! I’ve read quite a few short-ish stories by Nell Iris and have come to appreciate her writing style. In my opinion she does a great job with short stories, which is not an easy task. She manages to make the story seem much longer (in a good way). She conveys a lot of depth and creates poignant stories with a minimum amount of words and little to no angst. I fell in love with Iggy and Ronan. Ronan is such a sweet man, with a daughter who means the world to him. Iggy seems to have a sort of epiphany during his 36th birthday party and realizes that he needs more out of life than what he’s been getting. Overall Awakenings & French Songs was simply a very sweet, enjoyable story with great characters and I loved it. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***
