Ultrasound student Pam is thrilled to do her final clinical rotation at the office of a renowned OB doctor. She has only four weeks left to learn everything she needs to know to work in the field and who better to learn from than Dr. V, whom she admires?

The exam door swung open and Dr. V came in.

“Alone at last.” Her tone was joking but I still shivered. “So. You practice scanning your classmates at school, right?”

“Yes, but nothing too personal. Abdomens and thyroids and legs mostly. Nobody volunteers for pelvics and breasts. And, of course, no testicles.”

Dr. V chuckled. “Well, I can’t provide testicles, but I think I can offer some of the other parts you don’t get enough experience with.”

Was she seriously offering to be my practice patient? Oh God.

“You lose all modesty in med school. Just give me a second to get into one of these.” She grabbed a paper gown off the shelf and went into the attached changing room.

My hands started to shake. Not only did I not wish to embarrass myself with my scanning, I couldn’t deny my growing attraction to this woman whom I’d been working for, and sometimes with, for the past several weeks. She was still quite young considering her experience and reputation in the medical community. Surely no more than ten years my senior, if that. Her dark hair was pulled up and back during the workday, but I’d seen it when she left in the afternoon, down and loosely flowing over her slender shoulders. She was petite and very fit, her strength belying her small stature. And those eyes! Darkly exotic, shining with intellect and humor ...

She emerged from the changing room in the oversized gown and pirouetted.

“The latest from Versace.”

My breath caught in my throat. Her movements offered a glimpse of the curve of one of her breasts. It was obvious she was nude beneath the gown, and it was all I could do not to drop the ten thousand dollar ultrasound probe I was holding.

As she settled herself onto the exam table next to me, I busied myself making unnecessary adjustments to the machine. When the sound of paper crinkling finally stopped, I dared a glance in her direction. She hadn’t even bothered to spread a paper sheet over her long, tanned legs. Should I offer her one, or would that only prove I’d looked at them?

Too bad. I needed the safety of that extra layer of covering if I was going to be able to focus on whatever it was she wanted to teach me. I reached behind me for the folded paper sheet and tried to keep my hands from making contact with any part of her as I spread it out. Which was probably a little ridiculous, considering I was expected to scan her. But at least then there would be the additional protection of the probe between us.

Protecting her or me? I swallowed hard.

Dr. V looked me directly in the eye, holding my gaze for several long seconds. Her normally intense eyes seemed even darker, the pupils large in the dimly lit room.

“How are you with breasts?”
