Team Luker

A wonderful short story!

As far as I'm concerned, Nell Iris is the queen of MM short stories. In this very short tale, she grabbed me and hooked me in the first couple of pages. More accurately, she grabbed me with the blurb; as soon as I read it, I knew that this book would probably tear my heart out.

The love that Ellery has for Jools oozed off the pages and wrapped me up in the story. I really wasn't sure how this one would end and I'm not telling. I'll tell you that my emotions were all over the place reading this short story and I shed more than a few tears – both happy and sad.

I truly believe that writing a short story is a special art form. I absolutely don't mean to take anything away from all of the wonderful authors I love and follow who write longer books; but the depth of emotion this story invoked, in fact most all of the short stories I've read from Nell Iris, doesn't just happen; I think it takes a special kind of writer to do justice to this art form.

I know there are probably reviewers out there who will complain that Team Luker was too short and that they wanted more. I wouldn't mind reading more about this couple either, but… Nell wrote a beautiful little story with an ending that I found very satisfactory and I wouldn't change a thing because then it wouldn't be a short story. ♥

I purchased a copy of this book direct from the publisher, JMS Books.
