Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings

It can sometimes be difficult for an author to convey a complete story with a novella. Within Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings, Nell Iris has done an excellent job; taking two older men and bringing them together, forming that special connection.

Forty-seven-year-old Oren Walker has never been in a serious relationship, unless you consider the intimate relationship he has with his job. Pete Higgins knows about relationships… as a forty-something divorcee with a twenty-two-year marriage, a family and an ex-wife under his belt.

An almost instantaneous connection, or maybe it’s desire, forms when Oren reaches out thanking Pete for help after his mother, Ms. Daphne falls, managing to break her femur. Their camaraderie allows Oren and Peter to strike up an easy, casual and supportive friendship that ultimately solidifies their bond.

Pete’s ex-wife is an absolute hoot. I adore Cathy and her unwavering support for Pete and Oren’s relationship. Her lack of personal boundaries with Pete creates some utterly hilarious moments and uncomfortable situations for the guys.

The carnal acts between Oren and Pete occur off-page creating mystery and desire on the readers part. The PG versions that occur on page shed light on the acts that occur in secret. The inferno of heat these two generate takes your breath away.

I have to say watching these two older, yet vibrant men, take a chance on love and build a life together, is something you don’t often come across. I absolutely loved watching Oren and Pete grow in Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings, seeking and seizing the happiness they deserve.
