Four Christmases
I love Nell Iris's stories. She writes the most romantic short stories and novellas. Telling a complete story in a short amount of words isn't easy but she masters it every single time.
Four Christmases tells the story of Auden Whipple and Porter Eldin, whose families are feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys. Auden doesn't even know what the feud is about because no one in his family will tell him. He meets Porter one Christmas when he is talking a walk to get away from all of the noise his family makes. They make a connection and a relationship develops.
This is a slow-burn story with very little sexy time but that doesn't matter because it's such a romantic story. It's a bit sad in places but it's ultimately a very happy story about overcoming obstacles and pursuing what makes you happy. It really touched my heart.
Oftentimes when I finish a shorter book I want to hear more from the characters; I'm just that kind of reader who always wants more. Four Christmases didn't really leave me wanting for more – and I mean that as a compliment to the author. I thought the ending was very satisfying and I loved everything about this story.
A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
