Maura scrambled some tofu and avocado, putting some multigrain toast in the toaster, before busying herself laying out two plates and some orange juice on the opulent kitchen island. She looked up, startled at the two gray eyes studying her intently. The eyes were smiling to match the full lips below.

“What is it?”

“You.”

“Me?”

"Yes, you. You're amazing, Maura Dunne."

A smile tugged the corner of the forensic examiner's lips but Cameron also noticed something deeper, something primal in the hazel depths and it was in that she found the courage for her next words.”

"I would very much like to kiss you. What do you think?"

Before Cameron even finished the sentence Maura crossed the kitchen and her mouth crashed against Cameron’s hungrily and the artist was overcome with an onslaught of emotion. She gathered her wits and returned the kiss with matched fervor. She grasped the doctor's lower lip in her teeth giving a gentle tug eliciting a moan from deep within Maura's core. Encouraged, she ran her good arm down Maura's robe deftly untying it to seek out the matching silk nightie underneath. Encouraged by Maura's rasping breaths she moved the hand upward to cup a generous breast.

"Cameron."

The husky, gasp of her name from Maura's lips had her cursing her injured shoulder. She shifted Maura so her robe fell to the floor and placed a gentle nip on the older woman's shoulder before again assaulting her mouth, where she was met with matched passion by Maura's lips and seeking tongue.

Cameron broke the kiss, her eyes glazed and evidence of her passion pooling in her underwear.

"Maura?"

"Hmm?" Maura was nuzzling her neck which was making it very hard for Cameron to concentrate.

"It's obviously clear I have feelings for you."

“Mm-hmm," Maura replied, her lips making lazy circles on Cameron's collarbone. "I have feelings for you as well, in case you didn't notice."

Cameron took a deep breath.

"I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d like to wait, you know before we ..."

Cameron could feel the blush rising to her cheeks. Maura stopped and looked at her, a devilish look in her eyes.

"Before we do what?"

Cameron laughed, any tension she'd been feeling at having an upfront and honest conversation gone.

“You know damn well what I mean woman. It's not that I don't want to, and my god, I really want to. You’re the first person I've felt this way about in a long time and with everything going on,” she raised her bandaged arm, wincing slightly. “I just want to be able to ..."

"Make it special?" Maura interrupted. Cameron smiled and raising Maura's hand to her mouth gently kissed her palm sending shivers up the forensic examiner's arm.

"Well, I didn't want it to sound quite so Hallmark Moment, but yes."

Maura bit her bottom lip.

"I suppose I could wait, if it's what you want."

Cameron gulped.

"No. I mean yes. I mean waiting is what I want. But that doesn't mean we can't do this."

Cameron tangled her good arm in the doctor's honey blond tresses and was about to lead her to the nearby sofa, breakfast be damned, when the doorbell rang. Cameron froze. Maura, seemingly oblivious to the noise, tugged Cameron's lips back to hers and Cameron lost herself for a moment before the doorbell rang again.
