Joseph R.G. DeMarco

Joseph R.G. DeMarco, a longtime gay activist and Philadelphian, is known for his Marco Fontana mystery series. The series includes, so far, Murder on Camac, A Body on Pine, Crimes on Latimer, Death on Delancey, and the forthcoming tentatively titled Murder on Riomar. His vampire series includes A Warning in Blood and the forthcoming A Battle in Blood.

A number of his stories appear in anthologies such as the Quickies series, Men Seeking Men, Charmed Live, Heat of the Moment, and others. His essays have been anthologized in publications, including Gay Life, Hey Paisan!, We Are Everywhere, BlackMen WhiteMen, Men's Lives, Paws and Reflect, Best Gay Stories 2015, Male Sex Work: A Business Doing Pleasure, Chelsea Station magazine, The International Encyclopedia of Marriage and Family, Encyclopedia of Men and Masculinities, The Gay and Lesbian Review Worldwide, and The Journal of Homosexuality. A number of his plays have been produced in Philadelphia, NY, and elsewhere around the U.S.

He has worked as the editor of The Weekly Gayzette in Philadelphia, the Editor-in-Chief of New Gay Life, and has been an editor or contributing editor for a number of publications, including Il Don Gennaro, a national Italian-American magazine, and Gaysweek. He was a columnist for XX-Factor magazine, The Advocate, In Touch, and Gaysweek. His writing has appeared in PGN, The New York Native, GCN, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Welcomat, KLIATT, and Chroma: A Queer Literary Journal, as well as a number of other publications. He is also the editor of Mysterical-E, an online mystery magazine publishing since the 1990s.
