Imagine one fifty-three-year-old financial advisor and a forty-two-year-old cop acting like giddy teenagers and you have Accidentally on Purpose by J.M. Snyder. Add in a fourteen-year old nephew, and let the shenanigans begin. Alan Travers follows a routine and is often oblivious to the world around him. The one exception is the handsome cop he literally runs into at the local coffee shop; then stalks at the mall using his nephew as cover, finally asking the man on a date. Jim Garrison gave the “run in” at the coffee shop just a little assistance. Noticing the sexy older man that frequents the coffee shop he and his partner often visit for their morning brew, Jim stood just a tad bit closer to him in line than necessary. Thus, as readers, our first glimpse of Jim is that he is a funny, witty, and kind soul. Alan’s nephew, Brooks, causes all kinds of trouble for Alan and Jim while plotting ways to bring them together. Believing he knows more about relationships than his uncle,
3.5 stars I was so happy to see a book about older men. It was quite funny in places, because I don’t care how old you are, when you have a massive crush on someone, you act like a teenager. Especially when you want to ask them out so bad you can’t see straight. It was also a little humorous the way the MC and his nephew plotted to make a date happen. But for me, it was still a little….dry? I don’t know if that’s the right word. It just wasn’t for me. I think the funny part was that the whole time Alan was trying to get the attention of Jim, he had no clue Jim was trying to get his attention as well. And long before Alan noticed. It was adorable the way both seemed to be so flustered around each other. Nice to know that at any age you can still feel awkward and tongue tied like a kid when it comes to a crush. But Alan’s nephew Bryce came up with a ‘plan’ to help Alan and Jim get together. Which was comical as well. Everything seemed to be going well until Bryce went missing. Her
