The second kiss turned into a third, into a fourth, into a string of lazy, soft kisses up against the tree trunk at Noelle’s back. She slid one hand onto Frances’ waist, and dared to put the other to her cloud of curls, slipping her fingers into them when Frances nodded against her mouth.

Frances mirrored her, one hand still on Noelle’s jaw and the other drifting to her waist. Her hand was warm, almost hot, burning through the fabric of Noelle’s shirt. She let out a little noise.

The kisses continued, still soft and exploratory, until a confluence of events occurred where Frances let out a soft, happy-sounding sigh at the same moment that Noelle licked her lips, without either of them remembering to pull apart first. Noelle’s tongue slipped between Frances’ lips, and both of them rose to the occasion, the kiss turning deeper and hungrier.

Frances lightly knocked her forehead against Noelle’s, then pulled back and offered her hand. “May I see you back to your shop?”

“Alright,” Noelle said, taking her hand. “So chivalrous. Ravish a woman in the woods, then see her safely home.”

“Don’t give me ideas,” Frances said as they took off through the trees. “That was hardly a ravishment, by my standards.”

“Maybe I want you to have ideas,” Noelle said, trying for innocent and missing it by a mile.
