An interesting story, I enjoyed it.

Elias is the first book I’ve read by Erin E. Keller. It appears that she is an Italian author and it looks like she hasn’t had too many books translated into English yet. This is an age-gap story but doesn’t beat the age difference to death – just the way I like it.

Elias is a story that kept my attention pretty good. I was intrigued by the way these two characters danced around each other. While at times I thought the words seemed to not flow real smoothly, I think it may be that the book was translated from Italian. As far as I can remember, I’ve never read a book that was translated into English from another language. In any case, once I got into the rhythm of the story, I really liked it.

Thomas is living a very lonely life after the death of his partner. He’s been having meaningless hookups just to satisfy his body’s urges. Elias is being horribly abused by his brother. When he sees Thomas repeatedly leaving a bar they both frequent with other men, he wants to know what it would be like to get close to him. He kind of just shows up in places where Thomas is and it freaks Thomas out a little..

This story just about tore my heart out in places; what Elias is going through is awful. His unsuccessful attempts to engage Thomas just made me sad. It’s a fairly long time before Thomas acknowledges that there is something between them but once he does it still isn’t smooth sailing for these two.

I’ll be looking for more books by this new-to-me author.
