Unnatural Allies
Sands is an outcast of the Wintermaine pack. He refuses to deny that he’s gay just for the packs sake. He want’s and has a normal life and works in the human world as a bodyguard. He want’s no part of the pack but when his devious brother Raul is murdered he strikes out on his own to find out what happened.
Andre is an enforcer for Thorin, King of their territory and the vampire who sired him. Thorin is a laid back type of vampire for being King and sent Andre off on a vacation that didn’t suit him. Andre returns back at work at the Crimson Cathedral when Sands has entered the club on a bodyguard job.
When Andre and Sands meet there’s a definite friction between them. They agree to meet again and figure out what to do about Raul’s devious scheme to expose vampires to humans. With a new pack leader, the evil Estebe, Sands agrees to help Andre and Thorin end the scheme that could end tragically for them all.
Now, there is a lot more going on in the plot but I don’t want to give the entire story away and Kendrick tells it much better. It’s an easy read and doesn’t tax the brain too much, so it can be a fun read. But there’s action, suspense, steamy moments, teleporting, mind speak, evil and likable characters too.
I always look at Edward Kendrick stories a little differently. Of course, there’s those stories where vampires and werewolves are supposed to be archenemies but somehow he takes a vampire and werewolf and makes it about opposites finding a way to exist and get along. Even in Andre and Sands supernatural worlds they still have to deal with hate, bigotry and a like/love connection that may not survive. I also liked what Kendricks does with Thorin, being King isn’t easy but he’s willing to give Andre his freedom, to do as he wishes and he makes a new friend in Sands.
Edward Kendrick has written quite a few stories and all are entertaining and send a message in their own way and I’m looking forward to the next creative tale!
