I Hunt by Night
Edward Kendrick delivers an interesting look at Lucas Barrett a very angry vampire!
This wasn’t what Lucas Barrett wanted when he met Justin. But now he has no way out of becoming a vampire. He’s locked into living at Justin’s mansion until he becomes a true fledging. But no matter the comfort, Lucas is angry deep down inside and Justin doesn’t seem to care.
Completing his year and now a fledgling it’s time for Lucas to leave the home of Justin. Lucas is still angry and goes about establishing his life making some very serious errors along the way. If he keeps up the errors he could very well be considered a rogue vampire and draw the eyes of other vampires to suffer a painful death.
Lucas doesn’t know that he’s being watched very carefully by Axel McLeod. Axel pretty much saves Lucas from making anymore mistakes and they become more connected as they team up. But times are still tough out there for vampires and when they witness a crime committed by rogues they have to make a very important decision.
Edward Kendrick creates a quick read, suspenseful vampire story with a look into vampires being good and bad. He takes Lucas through some horrible times and most of all the reality that Justin is very self-centered. I really felt sorry for Lucas and wanted him to do better, so Axel was a good addition to the story.
I liked the secondary characters: Roland, who turned out to be a surprise and caught me off guard. Edina “Dina” Sarisbury is quite an exciting character and brings some interesting moments to this tale.
It’s always interesting to read a variety of vampire stories and this one has just the right amount of scary and twists!
