I was so happy to see the continuation of these two. They seem so right for each other. Both have their own bits of passion to overcome, but the connection they have together makes everything worthwhile. The only thing I don’t like was the ending. Severe cliffhanger. I hate that. So hopefully there will be another little story to tie things off.

You definitely need to read Ghost Writer first. This is a continuation. Patrick and Goose have been together about three months. Both still wondering about Jefferson and Calvin. Goose a bit more than Patrick. He more or less fell in love with the ghost of Jefferson after reading his diary. Patrick is curious in his own way, but is patient with Goose, understanding the emotional connection. They meet up at Goose’s place of work, where they end up snowed in from a huge snowstorm, and end up making a huge day of fun with it. Being in a kind of superstore, they have so much at their disposal and feel the joys of being a kid again, making sure they invite and include Jefferson and Calvin, if they are around. During their playtime, Goose takes a bump to the head and is transported back to Jefferson and Calvin and to what happened to them after the war. It was filled with wonderful times and a few bad ones, but allowed them all to bond. When Goose revives, he realizes how much he allows his ex to rule him and wants to make new with Patrick. Forged with a new purpose in mind, they create a perfect evening. But it will take more than one night to erase what has happened and hopefully it won’t stop what’s finally been started.

I understand Goose’s fascination with Jefferson and Calvin. Especially in those times, to know that someone got their happy ending, in spite of what the world said, is something anyone would want. For Goose, it’s something he’s always wanted but has never had. He knows he can have that with Patrick, but the fight between head and heart are severe. The heart wants love. The head doesn’t know how to let go. Seeing someone you connect to, no matter who or what, has a powerful effect, and it’s a huge one for Goose. Little by little, he’s accepting Patrick’s love and declaring his own, but it will take time to fully get past what he’s been through.

Patrick, I adore so much. He’s curious about Jefferson and Calvin as well, but maybe not to the extreme of Goose. But I love how patient he is. And no matter how many times Goose put the brakes on, Patrick still loved Goose fully. He still went slow, but hugged largely, kissed softly and touched gently. He gave Goose everything he needs and more. Despite his own rejections from other people because of his looks, he still kept on loving Goose and waiting for the right moment.

This is still a beautiful continuation. Just not happy with the ending. Other than that, it’s a beautiful story of hope and love. And a surprise friend who gets the love and support she needs. And a possible connection?
