“Look, Evan, I’m no expert, but ...”

Jude glanced across the kitchen counter at Evan, even more beautiful in the soft kitchen lighting and the flickering glow of the nearby candles atop the table set for two.

Evan gave Jude another one of those slow, ranging glances, up and down his body and back again. “Maybe not, but you’re clearly more experienced in all this than I am.”

“Not by a long shot,” Jude huffed. “But listen, let’s make a toast, have some of this sangria here and maybe you can tell me all about your sexy gym guy over ... dinner?”

Evan practically smacked his forehead, unlined and pale beneath his strawberry blond stubble. Jude peered into his rich hazel eyes, unspoiled and unblinking and hiding treasures he could only hope to unpack in hours, days, possibly even weeks and months to come. “Jesus, where are my manners?”

“You’re being a great host,” Jude insisted, hoisting his glass all the same. “I’m just thirsty, that’s all.”

“God, me too. Waiting around all night will do that to a guy, I guess.”

Jude practically choked on his own spit. “Tell me about it.”

Even hoisted his glass, those pretty eyes gently inquisitive as Jude did the same. “What shall we toast to?”

Jude looked around the stylish living room, with simple, classy, black and white framed art prints on the walls, the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, Big Ben, clean, low, modern furniture and trendy coffee tables, architecture magazines fanned out just so on top, then glanced back at Evan. “It’s your house, Evan. Your toast.”

Even started to protest, then seemed to settle into the idea. He nodded, smiling. “This will be my first toast in the new place.”

“Really?”

Evan nodded slowly. “Yeah, actually. I have a girlfriend, from work, she helped me move in, we had pizza and beer after, she’s been over for movie nights a few times, but ... you’re my first actual guest.”

“First male guest?” Jude teased, though secretly he was mining Evan for little data streams of vital information. He’d never seduced anyone before, but the thought of getting to know Evan better was subtly intoxicating, heart-poundingly exciting and zipper-threateningly erotic.

“Oh, for sure. Not for lack of trying, though.”

Jude widened his eyes dramatically and placed a hand on his chest, Southern Belle style. “You mean, there have been more housewarming guests than Zed Aurelias and his massive pecs?”

Evan blushed adorably. And quickly, his pale face expressive beneath his twinkling eyes. Jude wondered, idly, the way future lovers do, how his face might look after sex: sweaty, sticky, lusty and blushing straight crimson, clear down to his jizz-splattered chest. “I’ve put out the feelers, but ... no takers. Yet.”

Jude corrected him playfully. “Until me, that is.”

Evan was nodding, then stopped himself with a sly smile. “Actually, if I recall correctly, you ... invited yourself over?”

“Indeed I did,” Jude chuckled at his new neighbor’s sass, wriggling his glass suggestively. “See there? I think you have your toast all worked out.”

“What’s that?”

Jude clinked glasses, practically drooling for a sip after his long night of trying to get into Evan’s pants. Err, house. “To good neighbors,” Jude paused, their eyes meeting above the joined glasses as Evan smiled. “And ... more?”
