“I won’t be alone. I’ll be fine. I’ll prove there is something supernatural going on. You’ll thank me for making the school safe again,” Oliver vowed, his eyes meeting Lucian’s.

Lucian’s gray eyes were oddly enchanting. They weren’t warm or caring. They weren’t like Chester’s. Lucian was a poster child. One that drove Oliver insane.

“Not even Zayna can make you bright. If she could, you’d be third in our class. Behind me and Zayna, of course,” Lucian insisted. Lucian returned to his bed, flipping through his book. His eyes would occasionally dart to Oliver, his expression judgmental.

“Why do you do this?” Oliver interrogated Lucian, shoving him.

His roommate shoved him back. Lucian was more powerful than Oliver. Oliver was lean, but he was not nearly as muscular as Lucian. Lucian hovered over him, his pink lips forming a sinister snarl.

“Why do I do what?” Lucian asked, unmoving.

Oliver’s heart raced. His pulse quickened. Fear and nerves sizzled through him. They shoved one another every day. Oliver could recognize Lucian by his touch. Lucian’s touch was firm and warm, like waves on a tropical beach.

“You pursue my crushes. You like my friends. Yet you insult me and degrade me. We could have been friends. We’ve been together for years. No other boys want to room with us,” Oliver argued, infuriated.

“I do not do such things. There are a few handsome men. It is not my fault that you can recognize them as well. Oddly, you have intelligent friends. I have many theories. I think Zayna has a savior complex. Or perhaps she enjoys idiots. We could never be friends. We do not have that chemistry,” Lucian spat, pulling away from Oliver.

Oliver gulped. He didn’t argue with Lucian. They didn’t have that chemistry. That was true. Oliver closed his eyes. He imagined Chester’s bright smile and kind yes. Chester would protect him. He would soothe him.

“Don’t pursue Chester. I like him. He is kind. He will make up for my inadequacies,” Oliver muttered.

Lucian gazed at him with an odd expression. He crossed his arms, his biceps flexing.

“He will not,” Lucian stated.

The consistent dismal mood of his roommate made Oliver want to push Lucian down on his bed. To make him see that Oliver could be dominant and powerful.

“I will go with you. You’re annoying, but I don’t want to go through the process of finding a new roommate. It is exhausting. I could end up with someone who wishes to speak to me. I can’t handle that,” Lucian determined.

The wind outside howled. The storm Zayna talked about must have arrived. Oliver could hear the snow slamming against the window.

“Do you think the wind is causing all those howls?” Oliver asked. He was certain some of the howls were more canine in nature.

“You cannot believe in werewolves. I tried to draw the line with ghosts, hauntings, and the supernatural. I insist that you understand that werewolves are not real. No humans are turned into dogs. The moon has no impact on anything. While we’re at it, it does not matter where any planets were when you were born. The supernatural is a weak way to force reason on things that feel out of your control. Science, math, and data can do the same without causing me to scream into pillows,” Lucian lectured, rolling his eyes.

Oliver stiffened, angry. He was always angry with Lucian. He glared at his roommate with contempt. His annoying black bedsheet that was wrapped around him. Oliver wanted to throw the sheet out the window.

“I don’t believe in astronomy,” Oliver replied.

“You mean astrology. I hope,” Lucian spat.

Oliver blushed. “You know what I mean. You can’t deny what we saw today. Every year, weird things happen around Halloween,” Oliver murmured.

Lucian scoffed. ”You don’t say. It is like on a holiday based on tricks people deploy tricks. Shocking,” Lucian responded, throwing off his shirt.

This was their nightly routine. They would bicker while Lucia stripped. His shirt came off first. His abs were ridiculous. His chest was defined in a way Oliver had only seen in models. His arms were muscular. Lucian kicked off his pants and underwear. Oliver gulped. He couldn’t see anything through the sheets. Nothing outside of outlines. Lucian had a massive cock.
