"Miss, can you tell me your name?" asked the firefighter who'd carried me from the wreckage.

"It ... it's Maddie." I struggled against the hard lump in my throat as tears began to stream down my face. I could only imagine how much of a state I must look, covered in ash with streams of tears carving their way through the muck.

"Well, Maddie, my name is Ricky." The fireman unclipped his helmet then and began to pull it from his head. "I'll stay with you until the paramedics get here."

This guy was just as gorgeous, if not more, than Officer Drake had been. Even under the thick yellow firefighting suit I could tell his physique was beyond compare and his black hair was so glossy that it practically shone in the moonlight.

There were several firefighters still shooting water from their hoses in an attempt to stop the spread to the next house.
